The link is finally out! After waiting for months and months - since the start of this year in fact - it's finally released! Click here to go to the Opera Mobile Products page; the download link is halfway down the page.

I haven't downloaded yet, but I will do so as soon as I'm freer from work.

Note: Some strangeness abound: it's only the 18th of October, 2008 - but if you look at the first picture of this post, it says "Last Updated: 20.10.2008". But who cares...as long as we've got Opera Mobile 9.5 to download.

Can you download it?When i click the link i get the normal opera download page. And in the phone when i click to begin the download, i obtain the same page without the button to begin download.

Sorry guys, that opera is just a fake :)
or at least it's not published yet.

I reviwed their file archives at different servers - there are no any distribs of opera mobile 9.5 for UIQ.

well it says last update 20.10 so maybe it is downloadable only after that?

Yeah I don't think it's available yet. Specifically, the server where the other downloads point to, i.e. http://opera.nsc.no/ doesn't seem to contain anything related to uiq yet...

It's October 20th but still, I'm being redirected to Opera Desktop for Windows.

Seems like there's something missing between "Choose the device:" and "Choose download location:". Like a dropdown box or something to select a device.

It is very simple guys, this will be announced tomorrow at the Symbian Show, the web designers just added the links a little too early, I'm sure that after the show it will be available, just have some patience, we are hours off, not days, weeks or months. We are going to get what we were asking for, so why complain about it? Cheers, Roderick

Alright, it is online right now!!

It is the UIQ 9.50beta version, not the 9.51b as it was written before. This is the first UIQ beta.

    Known issues
    -------------------

    * Not multilingual build — Only English is supported.
    * The browser sets a new system-wide home-page, which cannot be opened by the embedded Internet browser (Opera 8.65).
    * The Cancel command in the "Enter address" dialog works as "Go to", opening the provided web address.
    * Cursor is not shown when HTML edit fields are partially out of screen.
    * Cannot login on mail.live.com.
    * Selecting "More->Go to" crashes in a specific case.
    * Use command doesn't work for phone number links.
    * No support for landscape screen mode due to a number of system issues with the OpenGL graphical engine.
    * Browser plug-ins are disabled by default due to non-existent or incomplete system support for Flash content. They can be enabled by the user for experimental purposes only, via More->Tools->Change settings->Advanced->Allow plug-ins.
    * The continuous browser usage experience might be affected by the amount of available phone RAM memory.

Enjoy Opera Mobile in your UIQ device!

    Cheers,
    Roderick

Ok, iv'e got it up and running on my p1i. First impressions:
1: It can render much more complex pages than opera mobile.

2: it seems to lack a proxy server to reduce image sizes. Sometimes it is nice to download all pics in full res, but it really slows the browser down

    3. scrolling over a page "zoomed in" opera mini style is way slower than in opera mini

    4. haven't found any working keyboard shortcuts yet, if this really is missing than that would be a major drawback. (or maybe i should just look better, i hope)

    1. No automatic proxy, as it is a full web browser in its own right. Proxy could be configured in the internet connection settings if you want - probably possible to run your own caching, image shrinking proxy.

    2. Opera have stated that there will be no keyboard support initially for devices not using micro$oft's standard keyboard interface, due to the large number of different devices they would have to accommodate.

    3. The AJAX support is amazing! Try using google docs... (although have something to read while it loads)

Just loaded opera mobile and am typing from it now.

basically i like opera mini better since mini has:
better performance in load speed and rendering (obviously)
    very useful keyboard shortcuts
    fullscreen that is actually fullscreen
better typing support (autocomplete is buggy)
scrolling with numberpad was waay useful

good things about mobile (mini team should listen to this!):
    transparent scroll bars maximise
    screen space on mobile
    url entry done very well
    did someone say tabs??
uses standard uiq way of entering password
(covering up letter after a some time so you can see what you're typing)

i will still keep mobile around to go to the few sites that mini cannot render. im not saying opera mobile is a bad browser (its actually very good for a render on phone browser) but that opera mini is a far better package. of course mobile is beta whilst mini is on release so i'll be keeping an eye on mobile releases
