Yep, it's official. Thanks to developer/modder/hacker swmail, the person also behind porting Walkman 3 to the Sony Ericsson P1 as well as the hack to allow unsigned apps to be installed, we've now gotten a port of the SE G700/G900 Flash firmware support. Basically this means that the P1 can now play swf files (not flv files for now) - a massive 'breakthrough' for current P1 users who can enjoy a much closer experience to full web browsing on the 'old' Opera.

Alright, installation instructions are as below (taken from swmail's readme):

Shame on you SE. We expected an attempt from the manufacturers to get Flash on the P1, but I guess in the end it's gotta be the independent devs who bail you out. Guess we can't expect anything decent from you guys anymore after the announcement to push UIQ to the Symbian Foundation...

Oh yes, and a big thanks to swmail. If you like his work please donate to encourage him to continue :)

Update: My bad, a big thanks to ares and asri from UIQBlog

Yeah I can understand how that feels. I'm on the verge myself of moving away from SE in general cos the kind of user support from SE is just pathetic and basically non existent. Essential features get left out from the good phones like the P1i, and instead SE keeps developing and marketing dozens of new phones without fixing any flaws. It is indeed a shame.

i did install it and it works but there a little problem though, the whole webpage become like text field (you always see the black triangle so you can't navigate by using your stylus in the page you can only use the bars)

Yes, there are slight problems and inconveniences now that some of us point out but I think everyone should bear in mind that it's a 3rd party port by an independent developer, not a company, so slight bugs should be forgiven at this point in time.

And there really is no excuse for SE about this one. The fact that they're not even giving us Flash support but only for the G900/G700 means that we're pretty much abandoned in terms of future updates and development.

Thanks swmail to give this to all P1i enduser! However, the plug-in can work only in view mode but not in interactive mode. I can't press any button in flash page.
