Perspective on UIQ Development

The newly introduced G-series brings a new freshness to the UIQ platform. Previously only found on the highest end phones for Sony Ericsson (The P-series, the M-series, and the most expensive Walkman phones), it now seems that SE is changing its strategy to allow more consumers to embrace UIQ.

Most of it probably had to the do with the iPhone - touch screen interfaces is now one of the new de facto standards when it comes to mobile phones. Thank you to Apple for pushing the industry in the right direction.

Esato's correspondent at 3GSM in Barcelona claimed

"the feedback from the operating system was instant. If the price is set correct, I think this will be a best seller."

That makes me wonder - how the hell did they optimise the system to get it to work so fast on a less powerful system? And if they can do it on a phone like that, please, for the love of god, fix your P-series. There are plenty of bugs to be fixed. And the P1i needs to be optimised to respond just like that new G900 phone - how can you even call the P1i the flagship if it's outdone by a normal consumer phone?

And with UIQ set to debut on a non-flagship series for the first time in SE's history, this should mark a historical moment for many of us. We can definitely expect to see a lot more quality UIQ applications, and not to mention more accessories that will work with the new OS.

I just wonder how the XPERIA X1 will fit in. It looks set to replace the P1i as the new flagship, running on a Windows Mobile Operating System. Perhaps UIQ is on its way down to normal consumers, while the high-end phones run WM?

A look at the new Camera interface for the G-series phone. It runs on the UIQ platform.

SE cooproation, and some other major companies, do not do what they say when they talk about consumer-friendly products. That's bullsh!t rubbish.

They only care about making money, not in improvement. I tell you why 950 does not have memory slot, it is actually to control the balance of sales between their products. And they liased with the IT arena to release the 8GB card. Actually there is already M2 card more than 8GB. But it will interefere with sales if it is released.

    F**K IT.

To the Web author of p1iblog.com, actually I hope that you would concentrate on the area of P1i rather than scrutinise about other SE phones. You should be more dedicated to P1i. Sure, all the times there wil always be better phones out there. But it is to see how well you use it.
