Of all the blokes that have come read my blog, I hope at least one of them work for Sony Ericsson. Here's a list of known issues with the P1i that I've compiled, from jumping around forums:
- Date: No matter how you set the date format in your preferences, whenever you restart your phone, the formatting on the standby screen jumps back to the default YY/MM/DD
- Camera: A slight greenish tint in the top right hand corner of each photo. Apparently was non-existent when the prototype was released, so it should be a software issue. Not sure if fixed in new firmware (affecting firmware version R6A)
- PDF viewing: Fonts are clear on the start of a new page, but with each scroll the words are distorted under unreadable
- Wi-Fi setup: Apparently many users have trouble connecting to Wi-Fi. Possibly problem with connection to lesser known routers, although this is unconfirmed. (Isn't affecting me, I use a Linksys Compact Wireless-G running in mixed mode)
- Exchange ActiveSync: Once installed, it disables PC Suite and synchronisation with Outlook on your PC. No way to fix this problem currently, except to uninstall ActiveSync
- A2DP Bluetooth: Volume control on P1i cannot change the volume on the headset
- Time Stamps: Huge problem with e-mails and text messages. Despite correct time between phone and operator, messages from other operators appear to be from wrong times.
- Internet: When WLAN is enabled but no network is in reach, the phone does not attempt to connect via 3G/GPRS. You have to manually turn off the WLAN in order to connect to those
SE are you listening?

About wi-fi: i've read in many places there are some recognized issue with some access point but some of those issues disappear when disabling power management in p1i. You can try but no warranty.
P1i stops trying connecting to 3g if in your group an ad-hoc connection is present, after switching to an access point it started to work correctly.
What is the problem about time stamps? I think to have had some problem with other phones too :(
bye
I just got my P1i so will keep an eye out on those bugs.
Date: it works fine for me.
Camera: no problem. I'm using HK firmware R6A
# PDF viewing: haven't opened many pdf files, but as I recall, they don't distort
# Wi-Fi setup: no problems here either, I can connect to wifi on various campuses (UST, PolyU), and Y5Zone access points in HK.
# Exchange ActiveSync: didn't try
# A2DP Bluetooth: didn't try
# Time Stamps: haven't tried with other operators, only Smartone, but I'm on Smartone and it's fine
# Internet: haven't noticed this problem, but I set it so it prompts me to ask for connection via wifi or 3G, I guess this can be a workaround to your problem
Bug? it doesn't allow you to make a Contact Search by any filed...just for the fields in the sort criteria you have... major handicap...
Regarding the date format, i have no issues. It is dd/mm/yyyy all the time.
guys, use the wiki for this

One of the most annoying bugs I encountered (yup I came across several) is that despite that there is a setting on MMS picture size, the app does not resize pictures at all. If the pic is too large, the app just gives you a warning asking you to drop the message. The editing app inside the phone does not do the resizing either. The only way to send a MMS is to set the picture size to the lowest resolution when you should one. With all other non-Symbian SE phones being able to resize pictures on the fly, the buy is really pisses me off.
P1i does indeed resize images when sending MMS, ya just need to dive into the right menu ;-) I don't have the P1i yet but I've seen it answered on the net somewhere.
Do you mean there is somewhat a setting for picture message? I can tell you there is one indeed, but it is just NOT workkng.
Hi, has anyone found the menu setting for sending mms pictures (resize) yet?
On the fly pic resize is such a fundemental feature, I cannot believe this is not included!
Hi, does anyone has any problem with the screen saver? each time I set it to "none" the phone automatically switch it back to "default". Its annoying!
To get photos resized when sending via mms: controlpanel -> Messages -> MMS-Account -> Press more -> Advanced settings -> Creation mode, change it to Restricted
I have the same issues too...
1) date and time format always jumps back to the default format after i restart the phone.
2) Assigned ringtones jump back to the default melody after reset too!
Haven't tried the functions in the other issues raised.
Just for the record, I'm using CDA ver R5A (can't find it listed in the wiki link though).
Date format is fixed in the latest FW R9J005
Has anyone experienced the problem on Alarms happening on Sunday when you have the following settings:
- Alarm set on Workdays
- Workdays set Mon thru Fri
- First day of week set to Sunday
Only one bug on my World Generic 1 prototype model (SE123) and that is SMS messages can not be deleted without opening them first.
My FM is old from around summer so maybe it goes away after update, other than that no bugs. Well, Yes, the camera has not so good colors!
Could you help me??
Is it posiible to set the alarm always for default in reminders or appointments??
When I create a new reminder or appointment the alarm setting is always blank and I have always to set it. Is it possible that it would be marked for default when I create a new reminder??
Thanks in advance.
I just changed CDA from Hong Kong to World 1 with XS++ and SEUS as described here:

*WiFi Issue: The phone DOES connect to the access point (I'm using a linksys wrv54g) I can see the phone IP in the linksys status screen (web setup), and also I can ping the phone IP from my PC on the same LAN from the command line. However the browser and other apps in the P1i CAN NOT use the WiFi connection and just report "Conecting" until timed out. Also at the WLAN screen the "connect" button reads the same after connecting (may be it should change to "disconnect") I've tried everything: no WEP, only B mode, set the same RTS, etc, but it doesn't improve. This is true for both Hong Kong and World 1 CDA's.
*Camera Issue: Both CDA's have the green tint issue, however I believe is software related (or software correctable) since the shape and size of the green "cloud" is different, in HK CDA was kind of a column on the right side from top to bottom, and on W1 CDA is like a spot between the center and the upper right corner. I must say W1 is better, with the greenish stuff much fainted, still noticeable though.
I can confirm the A2DP issue with the Motorola S805, the volume has to be physically altered on the headset.
i dont have any of these problems. just the bluetooth volume which is the same for w950i. you have to do it via the headset. no problem tho! its okay for me!
also no green line in camera. no wifi problem, connected more than 5 different places where i always go school work home and coffeshop all workd fine. I have linksys at home.
also the date thing, mine is fine.
picture massage our friend explained so its fine too.
I just hate the time p1 takes to create a new sms. w950i is much faster.
i also hate the player so much, buttons are so small. look at the FM and compare them with music player!!!
nothing else, i love this phone so much. its the best. used n95 for to weeks and I preffered my old w900i to it!~!!! hahaha
cheeers
I'm also facing the problem with my p1i...
time stamp...wifi connection....and the alarm setting for workdays...damn if u hv to wake on a sunday!
I have occassional problems with the wake-up Alarm, waking me up 4 hours (exact to the minute) before my set wake-up time.
It is as if, it thinks it is on another timezone even when my timezone settings are correct.
Strange as it will do it on some days but not others even though I don't change the settings.
ALSO, when a calendar reminder has popped up, my alarm clock does not sound!!
IN SHORT don't rely on the alarm clock. My old Sony Ericsson T610 has a reliable alarm!
I have used 2 different SIMS (in the Toronto and NY area) and the P1i has been fine.
I'm in the Cayman Islands and I try to use a local SIM and after 1 minute on a call, I get the "da naa na" tone on the line and the call is dropped. It is not the SIM as it works in another phone.
Does anybody know how to resolve?
